A Sitcom, or Situation Comedy, is a popular genre of comedy centered on an anchored set of characters who stay with the audience from episode to episode. These series may in some cases be recorded in front of a live audience, where the laughter is drawn out with comical moments, or they may use a laugh track; either way, when you are watching a sitcom from the comfort of your home, you can hear the laughter in the background.

There are countless sitcoms out there, each and every one has something different to offer, but there is something they have in common; episodes are made separately, each of them focusing on an event, or one of the characters, but the main story through the entire series keeps on growing and evolving. Similar goes with sitcoms like Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, and You Rang M’Lord?.
